Disclaimer: This is not meant to be funny. This is meant to satirize how carelessly a serious subject has been handled. It is also not a defense for Kanye; what he did was selfish and Taylor will never get that moment back. However, I felt it necessary to raise the issue of race. Age certainly wasn’t the difference, considering both incidents transpired in 2009 and Rihanna is only one year older than Taylor
Personally I think that there is a bigger issue to look at than just race. Kanye will always be harassed and looked down on because of what he did to Taylor, which was not okay in any way. But he never injured Taylor except hurt her feelings a little bit and get an army of people to help her milk every last bit of attention possible from the incident. However, when you have a man (Chris Brown) who physically abused a woman, especially a woman that he was dating, that wins a prestigious award, something is going wrong in our society. Kanye’s career took a hit because of the Taylor incident, while Chris Brown’s career is still (obviously) going strong. There is something seriously wrong with that. The fact that Chris Brown still gets awards, critical acclaim and millions of records sold despite what he did makes me sick.

Did anyone happen to y’know, consider the fact that maybe the Grammy people didn’t have their decision affected by the fact that he beat Rhianna. I’m not defending him. I’m not. I fucking hate him, and I think he’s a piece of dirt, I don’t even like his music, but it still stands that the personal life of an artist shouldn’t affect how people view their work. How about Rhianna coming out with S&M? Huh? Nobody wants to mention that because she’s a beaten woman. I personally think that’s highly inappropriate, and she should get a stern talking to by someone. What about Amy Winehouse, huh? She did a fuckton of drugs, but goddamn was she a fucking amazing performer. Your personal life isn’t completely separate from your music, not while creating it, but when your art form is judged, it should stand alone.
